There has been a lot going on with the Temple Mount in recent days. Back at the end of March, the leader of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, and King Abdullah of Jordan signed an agreement to cooperate on the administration and security of the al-Aqsa mosque, the Temple Mount and other religious sites in Jerusalem.
A little more than two weeks ago, Israel agreed to allow UNESCO to inspect the old city area of Jerusalem to insure the preservation of cultural and religious artifacts. This is of concern to many Jewish activists since UNESCO has proven to be antisemitic in the past.
There have been more and more people calling for the Jewish right to pray on the Temple Mount. More and more rabbis are agreeing with prayer on the Temple mount and now they have and ally in the Knesset. MK Feiglin has been a Temple Mount activist and now he has parliamentary immunity due to his election to the Knesset as a member of the ruling Likud party. A little more than a week ago, PM Netanyahu barred Feiglin from the Temple Mount although it is questionable that he has the legal authority to do so. Still, going against his Prime Minister could be politically disastrous for Feiglin.
Then yesterday, Israeli police detained the grand Mufti of Jerusalem Sheikh Muhammad Hussein for questioning. This has caused worldwide condemnation. According to the World Bulletin, Jordan's parliament has voted to recall its ambassador to Israel and expel the Israeli ambassador. Jordan has called for an urgent meeting of the Arab League. The meeting will be on Sunday.

Police detained Jerusalem Mufti Sheikh
Muhammad Hussein for questioning Wednesday morning over suspicions
that he was involved in disturbances at the Temple Mount on Tuesday.
Hussein was released without charge after some six hours, however
police stated that the investigation against him was ongoing.
Some fifteen Muslim worshipers threw
chairs at security forces Tuesday, lightly injuring two police
officers after they arrested an Arab youth who allegedly disturbed
the peace and yelled at Jewish visitors to the Temple Mount.
The detaining of Hussein came on the
46th Jerusalem Day, which commemorates the capital’s reunification
in 1967 following the Six Day War.

The burden of the word of the LORD for
Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and
layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man
within him. Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto
all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both
against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make
Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden
themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of
the earth be gathered together against it. Zechariah 12:1-3
