It stands over where God's Temple lay in times past, over the Holy of Holies - the holiest piece of real estate for over 1,000 years - until Jesus came. It also stands over the Foundation Stoner, the same spot where God created Adam from the dust of the earth, according to ancient Jewish tradition.

So basically it's very Holy and historical and prophetically important to Jews and Christians alike. Neither Jerusalem nor this place is mentioned in the Quran once, yet Muslims revere it (Jerusalem is mentioned in the Bible at least 800 times)

It should come as no surprise that the terrorist organization currently known as Islamic State has no regard for Christians, Christianity or Jesus Christ. An estimated 10,000 people have fled Christian areas in northern Iraq. And of course they have no regard for Jews or Judaism. They have destroyed the tomb of the prophet Jonah whose preaching in the city of Nineveh in Iraq caused them to repent and spared them the judgement of God.
